Don't be afraid to put in the hard work. There is no substitute for having done the thing that everyone else is talking about but have never actually done themselves. If you have done it, then you can talk about it with confidence, from experience, and this makes all the difference.
Likewise, it's easy to trivialize the work of others, having never done their work. This is almost always a trap, and oftentimes will lead to making promises you can't keep based on assumptions about how easy something “should be” or “should have been”. Better to just dig in and do the work, understand the problems; fail, fail, fail some more, and then learn.
